My top 10 skincare products.

I want to share with you some of my favourite skincare products. I enjoy trying and testing out different skincare products. I recycle what I can from my skincare regime, and return any empty containers to Lush and The Body Shop. I do need to make more effort to incorporate zero waste products into my skincare routine. I am definitely not an expert on skincare, I am just sharing with you the products I like using.

Number One: Elemis – Limited Edition Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser

This is a luxury deep cleansing cream, which helps defend against daily pollutants. To use this, I will massage into dry skin, until the cleanser has warmed up. Then I will leave it on for five minutes to dissolve my make-up, and remove with a warm cleansing mitt. I love the fragrance of this cleanser, and how effective it is to take off your make-up. It leaves your skin feeling moisturised, and fresh. I don’t use this product every day, I use this about three times a week.

My Rating: 7/10

Number Two: Elemis – Cleansing Micellar Water

This is a refreshing and clarifying micellar water, which cleanses the skin, removing make-up and the daily build-up of skin pollutants. This contains rose water and soothing anti-oxidant rich Chamomile, which helps to leave your skin gently cleansed, whilst the natural moisture is maintained. This is one of my much-loved skincare products, and I have used this for years. It is so easy to use, you just soak a reusable make-up remover pad, and gently wipe over your face. I use this in the morning, and in the evening. It takes your make-up off excellently, and the rosewater makes it smell divine. It also lasts a long time, as you don’t need a lot of the product. An independent trial found that 85% of users felt this product gently cleansed their skin, and left their skin looking clear.

My Rating: 10/10

I would also highly recommend the soothing apricot toner from Elemis.

Number Three: Boots – Cucumber Cleansing Lotion

This Boots cleansing lotion is a bargain at £1.50, and I always have this product in my make-up bag. I have very sensitive eyes, and find this to be the only effective eye make-up remover I can use. This is ideal for taking off waterproof mascara and eyeliner. I tend not to use this on my whole face, but you can use this as a cleansing lotion as well.

My Rating: 9/10

Number Four: Natures Aid – Triple Strength Rose Water

The triple strength rose water is often used as a natural facial toner, and is a bargain at £3.95. This is my third bottle, and I love this product. The rose water is made with purified water and selected rose petals. This has no added alcohol or artificial perfumes – ideal for sensitive skin. The fragrance is lovely, and the rose water leaves your skin feeling refreshed. Rosewater has several benefits for your skin, such as: helps maintain the skins pH balance, and also control’s excess oil. Rosewater also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce the redness of irritated skin, help clear acne and help with eczema. I would definitely recommend this product.

My Rating: 9/10

Number Five: Elemis – Pro-Collagen Marine Cream

The Elemis Pro-collagen marine cream is slightly more expensive, and I try to purchase this when it is on offer. A good tip is to look on QVC – as they regularly sell it. This has been clinically proven to reduce the depth of wrinkles, improve skin firmness and hydration within 14 days. 90% of women agreed that the product left their skin feeling significantly firmer – from an independent trial. I use this cream in the evening, after I have done my skincare routine. The moisturiser leaves my skin feeling softer and hydrated, without feeling oily.

My Rating: 10/10

Number Six: The Body Shop – Aloe Soothing Moisture Lotion SPF15

The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Moisture Lotion soothes your skin, and is ideal for sensitive skin. I use this as a daily moisturiser, before I put on my make-up in the morning. It feels light on, and leaves my skin feeling moisturised for the day. This product has no added fragrance, colour or alcohol. I think it’s important to incorporate SPF into your daily skin care regime, this could be your moisturiser or foundation. Sun’s UV rays can potentially cause skin cancer, and also degrade the collagen in skin which causes unnecessary wrinkles as well as an over production of melanin – which can create pigmentation flaws and age spots. Additionally, it is also helpful to invest in a SPF lip balm.

My Rating: 9/10

Number Seven: The Body Shop – Drops of Youth

I am just about to finish this product, and in need to renew it. This is a unique gel-to-water liquid from The Body Shop, which is to be used after cleansing to prepare the skin for the next step. This is infused with a blend of three plant stem cells: edelweiss, sea holly and criste marine. This makes my skin feel super hydrated, and is particularly great in the summer and winter months. I would also recommend having a look at the other amazing products in the Drops of Youth range, from The Body Shop.

My Rating: 7/10

Number Eight: Face masks

I struggled to choose one face mask, so have included two of my current favourites. The Body Shops Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask and the Lush Brazened Honey face mask.

The Body Shop – Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask

The Japanese Match Tea Pollution Clearing Mask is enriched with matcha green tea, dandelion extract and aloe vera. This face mask deeply purifies and gently exfoliates your skin. I try to use this face mask once a week, and feel the positive benefits from this. I feel that it deeply cleanses my skin, leaving it feeling exfoliated and soft. A study found that 91% of women agreed pollution felt removed from their skin after using this. If your skin is in need of some TLC, I would definitely recommend this.

My Rating: 9/10

Lush – Brazened Honey Face Mask

One of the employees in Lush recommended I try the brazened honey face mask, and am glad I did. This face mask exfoliates your skin, and is perfect for sensitive skin. The ingredients in this mask, include: parsley, coriander, fennel, ginger, honey and lime. I particularly love the ginger in it, as anyone who knows me knows how much I love products with ginger in them. The only disadvantage is that you have to keep this face mask in the fridge, and you have to use it within two months. If you are looking for a face mask to exfoliate your skin, I would recommend this product. The natural ingredients within this face mask also help reduce redness on your skin.

My Rating: 7/10

Number Nine: Jade Roller

The jade rollers originated in ancient China, as part of traditional remedies. Jade rollers have several benefits, such as: help to stimulate circulation, stress reliever and the cooling sensation helps to calm the skin, depuff and soothe inflammation. I like to leave mine in the fridge, and use it under my eyes in the morning. The jade roller is a godsend when you are travelling, or recovering from a late night. The cooling effect is lovely on the skin, whilst also energising your skin. Many high-street stores now sell them, and they are reasonably priced.

My Rating: 9/10

Number Ten: Elemis – Total Glow Bronzing Moisturiser

This Elemis total glow bronzing moisture for the face, is perfect for building up a natural looking tan, in two to three days. This product is perfect for the summer months, when you are on holiday and you don’t want to wear as much make-up. This is specially formulated with anti-oxidant rich green tea and ginger water to help give you a more even skin tone. I would recommend trying this over the summer months, or when you are on holiday. It feels light on, and gives a natural summer glow.
